About Northern Abstract Aussies
It all started with a girl and an aussie. I fell in love with the breed over 7 years ago when I purchased my first aussie Remy. Since then I knew I would never have just one aussie again. We've been slowly growing our program, and carefully choosing breeders to purchase future prospects from. It was a long process of raising and evaluating potential prospects, learning the "To Do's" of breeding and health testing our breeding dogs before we pulled the trigger to have our first litter. Our overall goal is to produce family orientated dogs, with the best confirmation, health, and disposition possible.

At Northern Abstract Aussies we breed CKC and ASDR registered Australian shepherds, with sizes ranging from miniature to standard. We are aiming to add to CKC registered mini American shepherd in the near future. All of our dogs have been tested through Pawprints or Embark for genetic disease, or proven through parentage. As well have certified OFA ratings to rule out hip or elbow dysplasia.
We are a small, home breeding program located in Camrose, Alberta. Our aussies are our pets first, and are not outside, or kennel dogs. They enjoy sleeping in the bed, camping trips, and fun sports (agility, barn hunting, stock herding, disc...etc). |
Our PuppiesHow are our puppies raised? All of our puppies are raised in the home. We believe that allowing puppies to constantly be exposed to the hustle and bustle of a normal everyday household, sets them up to confidently transition to their new home after 8 weeks old. They begin litter box training with wood pellets at the age of 3 weeks, and transition to starting to potty outside around 6-7 weeks of age depending on our Alberta weather. Puppy's begin their kennel training as early as 2-3 weeks when an open door kennel is added to their pen. We then begin kenneling for short time frames, and car rides as early as 4-6 weeks, especially when were preparing our puppies for travel to their new homes, via air or ground shipping. Our puppies are well socialized with children, people and other dogs.

Tail DockingWe understand there is a lot of opinions on tail docking in Alberta, and some people prefer one look over the other. We strive to uphold the breed standard of this amazing breed, while aiming to offer our clients what they are looking for in an aussie. If you are wanting an aussie with a tail, please specify in the requirements when filling out the questionnaire. We will do our best to fulfill this requirement, but will depend on where you are on our waitlist, and what other people are wanting. With leaving a tail on a puppy, we require an additional non-refunable deposit to be put on your puppy at birth, which goes toward the final price of the puppy.
